Prompt jail sentence for second speeding driver

A 31-year-old man was jailed for 20 days on Thursday after he was caught speeding on the Nicosia to Limassol motorway.

The man had his licence suspended for five months and had signed a €1,000 bond that he would not reoffend in the next two years.

Police said the man was caught doing 200km/h at 2am on Tuesday. The legal speed limit is 100km/h.

It was the second imprisonment of a road offender in two days. Both cases were immediately filed to court by the police.

On Wednesday, a man was jailed for 30 days after he was caught speeding on Saturday.
